Behind the Seams: Why I Started This Studio

A story about craft, conscience, and choosing a more thoughtful way to make.

Knitwear studio craftsmanship

Five years ago, I entered the knitwear industry fascinated by how a simple cone of yarn could become a piece of wearable art.

I spent my days on busy factory floors, learning the language of stitches, feeling the difference between gauges, and watching raw fibres take shape as fully-fashioned garments.

But over time, the industry began to change.

In the relentless race to the bottom, I watched factories squeeze every possible cent from production. Beautiful designs were compromised by cheaper synthetic fibres. Most painfully, I saw linking and hand-finishing – the quiet skills that give premium knitwear its soul – simplified or removed to save seconds on the production line.

“Knitwear should have a soul.”

I realised my values were moving in the opposite direction. I did not want to help create disposable garments at the expense of quality, material integrity and human skill.

So I walked away – and began again.

I founded this flexible boutique studio around one simple, uncompromising belief: knitwear should have a soul.

We are not a massive factory chasing millions of pieces. We are a dedicated development and production partner for independent designers, boutique labels and creators who share our respect for knit structure, responsible materials and enduring design.

Flexible production from 100 pieces per style gives emerging brands room to create without carrying unnecessary deadstock. We source certified and lower-impact yarn options, and we value the experienced knitters, linkers and finishers whose knowledge gives every garment its character.

Look closely at our work: the clean line of a fully-fashioned armhole, the balanced tension of a fine-gauge stitch, the soft hand of thoughtfully sourced merino wool. What you see is five years of industry experience shaped into a slower, more mindful practice.

As the studio grew, that same attention naturally extended beyond the garment itself – to woven labels, hang tags, elastics, cords and packaging. Because a brand’s story does not end at the final stitch; it continues in every detail the customer sees and touches.

We do more than manufacture sweaters and trims. We help bring textile ideas to life, one considered detail at a time.

Welcome to our studio. Let’s create something that lasts.
